Alton school will host COVID vaccinations Ron DeBrock, ronald.debrock@thetelegraph.com FacebookTwitterEmail WOOD RIVER The Madison County Health Department has added two more schools in Alton and Highland to the list of upcoming COVID-19 vaccination sites. The MCHD will offer vaccinations June 3 at Alton High School and June 9 at Highland Primary School. Earlier this week the MCHD also announced vaccination clinics at Granite City High School on May 24, Triad High School in Troy on May 27, Trimpe Middle School in Bethalto on June 2 and Collinsville Middle School on June 7. All four are planned for 3:30-7:30 p.m. Additional clinics are planned May 25 at the Hamel Community Center and May 21-25 at the Gateway Convention Center in Collinsville. The MCHD is accepting walk-ins at the vaccination clinics, but appointments are requested. Vaccinations are available for people 12 and older.

The board voted 7-0 Wednesday after receiving guidance from the Illinois Department of Public Health and is subject to “favorable public health conditions.” The resolution states that all schools must resume fully in-person learning for all student attendance days, provided that remote instruction be made available for students who are not eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine and are under quarantine order by a local health department or IDPH.
