Cameroonian officials suspect a cough syrup is the cause of a dozen childrens deaths and it appears to have been manufactured in India. An investigation showed that a manufacturing license number on a Naturcold medication box matches that of Indian-based Riemann Labs. Riemann does not believe it created the tainted medicine and suggests the possible issue could be counterfeiting. Two other Indian firms were suspected of manufacturing similarly contaminated syrups found in Liberia and the Marshall Islands, although there were no reported injuries.
