Receiving the certificate, Senator Jeremiah Koung vows to work with the House of Senate to ensure the reforms of laws that placed NEC in an unfavorable condition to trial cases effectively, especially cases without merit.
MONROVIA – The National Elections Commission has certificated Senator-elect Jeremiah Koung to officially take office after a delayed legal battle between him and Madam Edith Gongloe Weh of the Collaborating Political Party (CPP).
Senator Koung of the Movement of Democracy and Reconstruction (MDR) is now replacing the seat of former Senator Thomas Grupee.

Monrovia Madam Edith Gongloe Weh, a Senatorial candidate in the 2020 senatorial election in Nimba county, has urged Liberian women to vigorously pave their way in the political sphere without fear amid discrimination and setback.
She spoke over the weekend at programs marking the Celebration of international WOMEN’S Day organized by Women Movement for Sustainable Development (WOMSUD) under the theme, “Choose to challenge”. The event was intended to honor some women who braved the storm through the Political space to Contest during the 2020 Midterm senatorial elections.

MONROVIA The Board of the National Elections Commission (NEC) has affirmed and confirmed its hearing officer ruling against Madam Edith Gongloe-Weh due to her inability to provide substantial evidence to prove fraud.
On Thursday, the Board of NEC concluded to dismiss Madam Gongloe-Weh’s case with the confirmation that the hearing officer, Cllr. Boakai Harris who conducted the investigative hearing in the matter did not err as assumed by Edith’s legal team.
