Hes been the subject of documentaries, written a book now hes bringing his message to iowa as suicide rates climb across the country. Its so empowering when the individual comes back over that rail, they did it, it takes a lot of courage to come back over that rail and face everything that pushed you over that edge. Briggs says the key is communication people something many people do. In johnson county, the Crisis Center offers a crisis hot line that gets one thousand calls a month, and recently started a mobile Crisis Center where Mental Health professionals actually go and visit with people who are considering harming themselves. Yes, the artistic director, Leslie Charipar , tells me that tcr did contact at least one organization that advocates on behalf of the Deaf Community when casting. But admits it could have done more. Charipar addressed peoples concerns on a post on tcrs website. She says no deaf actors showed up to auditions and tcr was just following policy when it comes to selecting actors. Roles and do not get paid.
