Volunteer firefighter dies answering last call before returning to Canada

LOWER MERION —   After two years in the States, where he found a passion for firefighting, Sean DeMuynck was headed back to his native Canada Monday with hopes of pursuing a career in firefighting. His bags were packed but before that he answered one last call as a volunteer with the Penn Wynne Overbrook Hills Fire Co. Sunday evening as the community celebrated Independence Day. DeMuynck, 35, never made it back to Canada.  While battling the attic and roof fire at a home on Rosedale Road in Wynnewood, something went wrong; he became separated from other firefighters, and died later that night at Lankenau Hospital.
