LOWER MERION â  After two years in the States, where he found a passion for firefighting, Sean DeMuynck was headed back to his native Canada Monday with hopes of pursuing a career in firefighting. His bags were packed but before that he answered one last call as a volunteer with the Penn Wynne Overbrook Hills Fire Co. Sunday evening as the community celebrated Independence Day.
DeMuynck, 35, never made it back to Canada. Â While battling the attic and roof fire at a home on Rosedale Road in Wynnewood, something went wrong; he became separated from other firefighters, and died later that night at Lankenau Hospital.
