MOMENTUM is growing behind a bid to transform a Bearsden park described as a “mud bath” by parents and community leaders. Hundreds of locals have backed the ambitious calls to overhaul Kilmardinny Park and bring it up to scratch with those in the surrounding towns and villages. Drainage issues in the greenspace – commonly known as the Gruffalo Park due to the nearby Gruffalo Trail – have long been a source of frustration for residents as has the deteriorating condition of play equipment. Mum-of-two Louise Christie, 43, is one of those leading the charge and she said flooding often makes the park a “no-go” zone for some.

Kindhearted strangers have raised $200,000 for the three children of a mum who was allegedly burned to death by her estranged husband.
Kelly Wilkinson s charred body was found early on Tuesday morning in the backyard of her home in Arundel on the Gold Coast, after neighbours reported hearing screams and the sound of an explosion.
Her former partner Brian Johnston, 35, was found two blocks away on a front lawn in a semiconscious state .
The horrific tragedy shocked the nation and prompted an outpouring of grief and anger around the globe.
Her distraught family set up a GoFundMe page earlier this week asking for help to pay for the funeral of their beautiful angel .

Ex-US Marine Brian Johnston appeared to be on a deadly mission when he arrived at the former family home around 6am last Tuesday morning.
Knives, duct tape, rope, an army camouflage duffel bag and a jerry can were allegedly found by police at the scene in the Gold Coast suburb of Arundel - suggesting frightening preparations before he allegedly killed and set his former partner Kelly Wilkinson alight while their three children were present.
The items were reportedly found in the backyard beside Ms Wilkinson s burnt body, while one of three knives he was allegedly carrying was also found nearby.
