In new orleans with katrina and lost many of the people, hasnt recovered the building stock. Its not a good situation. I think we can agree and in san we want to rebuild well and quickly after a major disaster so we have defined what that means for our life lines. How do we need the gasolines to perform and water perform after an earthquake and the building stock as well, so we have the goal of 95 of our homes to be ready for shelter in place after a major earthquake, and that way people can stay within the city. We dont lose our work force. We dont lose the people that make San Francisco so special. We keep everybody here and that allow us to recover our economy, and everything because its so interdependent. So that is a difficult goal but i think we can achieve it over the long time so thank you very much for hosting us and hosting this great exhibit, and good morning and welcome ining to bayview and the Ruth Williams memorial opera house. My name is tom decaneey and from the Arts Co
Really a testament to what the elimination of affirmative action has brought not not just at the education level, but through contracting throughout public agencies, and i think it is really clear that when we talk about affirmative action, its not about quotas. Its about being able to consider race when you have applicants of equal credentials. If you have applicants of equal credentials you should be able to consider race in the admission because we know that diversity is an important part, actually, an essential part of our educational setting. It has been a real testament today to what we see at our public universities, i think bringing back affirmative action would play an Important Role to fulfilling the diversity of our state. Thank you. Before we go to supervisor compass. Can we get a second. Seconded by supervisor wiener. Supervisor campos. He think what i thought was really important about this resolution is that i do think that how we talk about affirmative action and the co
Matthew i was hunger when i was in prison you visited me. Christ said that. Elevating those people. As our responsibility. George davis taught us how to incorporate that in what we did as a value. And that if we skewed we were better for it. So, i mean i loved him much and i was proud to go to the floor of the house and talk about him as he and contacting had so much energy and never down. It was just keep on keeping on. And think about how it grew im thinking back over 25 years ago with balloons and all the rest and bigger and bigger and now here we are this great mrirnt. Its an honor to be here with you but more important its personally its a personal Opportunity One that i wouldnt have missed because when george davis is honored were doing gods work why do we always prayer for gods work hes already blessed that george davis did gods work and kathy did just that clapping just think just think of those people in this housing when it comes to be warmed comforted, housed, respected with
Theyre saying well, the housing density if its not reduced if youre able to do the x number of affordable units ill well pay for the parking. We are getting almost a double dip i hate to say that sounded good to me. Are you finished and yeah. One question to jonathan. Im still concerned about the port i understand that 8 million aluminum sum i understand the Parking Spaces to the port have we yet vetted at any Point Holding onto two floors like the ground floor commercial and the floor of office above thats income for the port the developer get ahold of it were not going to have a lot of say at this point so someone has gone past. Theres good ideas that have been floated at the port looking at the affordability the particular challenge whether this years trust uses and uses restrictions so as ricky highlighted we went to the state legislator to look for the narrow expectations to the trust rules everyone above the ground floor would the Affordable Housing so were trying to get the best
Two years of discussion and were the Ethics Commission and according to the sunshine ordinance the only people we can discipline are elected heads and officials and so if you have a complaint against a line employee your response from the staff is we cant do anything, so these things go back and forth and you know. You can say the task force knows what its doing but every single time the task force sends awe recommendation you find or the staff finds a reason to find fault and if you think its at fault and you acknowledge the fact that part of the responsibilities as a body is the enforcement of the sunshine ordinance then i would think that there would be a moral imperative to do something to get together with the task force and come down with something meaningful where you can do something instead of these pointless arguments whether they charge the right person or crossed the right t or. Ed the i and the issue is let them go to Public Meetings and let them speak and i went to the Po
