To the shooting began at the longterm parking structure behind me. It to lated on to san bruno avenue, even on to the exit ramp to 101, where the suspect told police to shoot him during a confrontation. This victim was talking to Police Investigators about a scary encounter with a carjacking suspect. Police say minutes earlier the suspect had crashed this white toyota on south airport boulevard. The car was stolen from the longterm parking garage. It belonged to a woman running the San Francisco marathon. Witnesses saw the dry leave the scene carrying a backpack. A Police Officer stopped the man. When the officer asked the suspect to place the backpack down, the suspect ran. Reporter he ran west on san bruno avenue and police say he attempted to carjack the car of a red honda. The driver is threatennenned. He can here the original suspect telling the driver to drive. The driver refuses elm the suspect then gets back out of the car. Reporter police say the suspect ran on to the 101 exit
At the michael mina restaurant. I think about the only thing they really need to really improve on is when you exit the stadium. Reporter that was last years big trouble spot. The 9ers say the number of exit lanes for major parking lots is being expanded and traffic may be diverted into opposite lanes to speed connections to the freeway. But its not just the team making adjustments. We didnt know what to expect. And a lot of riders didnt know what to expect. It was a learning curve. Reporter the vta which transports about 9,000 fans per game is finetuning service. New fences run near the stadium to discourage people from crossing lines on foot. Last year trains had to wait for jaywalkers. Riders are urged to plan ahead to avoid congestion. Reporter the fireball ride here in santa cruz will stay closed today. Thats after an order from the state agency that oversees ride inspections. Thats because its the same ride made by the same company as the one that broke apart in ohio last night. A cell phone showed the accident, hurling riders to the ground below.
