Well check on the Central Valley up next. Happening today in the south bay, the verdict is going to be announced in the sierra lamar murder trial. Lets take you live to the hall of justice in san jose. Thats where the verdict will come down in a few hours at 9 00 this morning. Antolin garciatorres is charged with first degree murder. If hes found guilty he faces the Death Penalty. The prosecution says dna evidence on her clothes proves Garcia Torrez murdered her. The defense argues the dna evidence is flawed and since lamars body has not been found this is nothing more than a missing persons case. Lets give you a timeline of this case. On march 16, 2012, sierra lamar disappears on her way to a morgan hill bus stop. March 17 her phone is found a few blocks away. March 18, her pink bag is found down the road from the cell phone. May 21, sheriffs deputies arrest garciatorres. Fast forward nearly two years to february, 2014, garciatorres pleads not guilty to murdering sierra lamar. On january 30 of this year, the trial finally got under way and then today more than five years after sierra lamar disappeared there is a verdict. Police say a man used a hammer to smash a jewelry case. Store employees were able to hold the suspect down. The search continues for the other two. Marin countys top coroner is back in the bay area to face child molestation charges. 46yearold darrelle harris was arrested in eureka and held until he was booked in marin county. Abc 7 news was in the courthouse but the judge would not let in cameras. Hes accused of abusing a girl over the course of seven years. Investigators say it started when she was under the age of 14. Shes now an adult. Harris faces four felonies and hes going to be in court next week. Investigators in san rafael say there may be more victims in a scam involving a man trying to get sex in exchange for a fake apartment. A woman reported last week she answered an ad in a laundromat for an apartment to rent. The man who posted the flyer said he was a building manager and this if she had sex with him he would overlook a late payment or two. Police say the suspect is free on bail this morning. He admitted to not being an employee of any apartment complex or Property Management firm. Investigators hope other potential victims will come forward before they turn the case over to the d. A. Happening today, wells fargo back in court. There will be a hearing on whether to dismiss a lawsuit against the San Franciscobased bank. Former employees accuse wells fargo of targeting and urging undocumented immigrants to open new accounts. Wells fargo strongly denied those specific accusations however last year it agreed to pay 142 million in a Class Action Lawsuit regarding other unethical tactics to increase sales. San Francisco Police officers are using force on suspects less often according to a new report. Chief bill scott calls it proof the departments efforts to train officers on tactics such as deescalation are paying off. The report found a nearly 16 drop in reportable uses of force in the First Quarter of 2017 compared to a year ago. Officers used force in less than 1 of incidents. The report also found a 45 in assaults against officers. Look at this dash cam. This started when an officer pulled over to help a stranded driver on the side of the highway. I want to come over here to this side just in case that bridge is terrible. Oh, my goodness, you just saw that car lost control and rammed right into the vehicle. Miraculously, no one was hurt. This crash took place in december, but authorities just released this video yesterday to show drivers why its so important to slow down and drive away from emergency vehicles you see on the side of the road. Some 272 along a gas pipeline, including old oaks and redwoods, have been identified for removal by pg e. We got word the metering light we got word the metering light were flipped on early, 5 22. A verdict in the trial of the man accused of killing a morgan hill teenager. Its been five years since sierra lamar left for school and vanished. Now a long trial ends with a relatively quick deliberation. Matt keller is live in san jose. Matt . Reporter the jury deliberated very quickly. This was a threemonth trial and it took hem less than two days to come up with a verdict, that will be red at 9 00.
