Under new plans devised by the UK government, London hotels are going to be used as quarantine facilities for recovering Covid patients to ease the pressure on the NHS.

The Handbook, hotels in the capital will provide a lifeline to hospitals as patients who are not critically ill but not yet ready to go home are discharged from hospital to prevent the NHS from being overwhelmed.
Kings College Hospital in Camberwell is the first to trial the set up by sending homeless Covid patients to the four-star Best Western hotel in Croydon.

Under the measures, patients will be discharged early and sent to either care homes, hospitals, or even back to their own homes for continued care, the Guardian has claimed. It is thought “thousands” could be affected by the plans, which aim to free up hospital beds for more serious cases.

THOUSANDS of hospital patients are to be moved to hotels or their own homes to free up beds for Covid-19 patients, it has been reported.

Documents seen by The Guardian have also revealed that the NHS is also asking care homes to accept covid patients directly from hospital without a recent negative test - as long as they have isolated for 14 days and do not show new symptoms.
