Placing London in ‘Tier 3’ restrictions ahead of the five-day relaxation for Christmas would help bring down worrying rises in infection rates, government scientists have said.
Senior sources said it was important to enter the festive break ‘at the lowest prevalence we can’ adding that increasing restrictions ‘does matter’ even if people would be mixing more freely a few days later.
