Pakistan-based terrorists from Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed terror organisations had attacked the Parliament complex on this day in 2001, killing nine people. The incident also comes amid a threat released by Khalistan supporter Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, who had threatened to launch an attack on Parliament on and before December 13.
A young man with a smoke can in his hand jumped in the Lok Sabha and tried to move forward but the MPs surrounded him, and Hanuman Beniwal (RLP), Maluknath (BSP) and Gurpreet Singh swiftly assisted the staff in nabbing the intruders. Amidst the commotion, the accused kept screaming “Tanashahi nahi chalegi” as they sprayed the smoke inside the premises of the House. One of the accused, identified as Sagar Sharma, used a yellow spray hidden in his shoes. He was accompanied by another man named Manoranjan.
