It wasnt until their third attempt in 2011 that the project was finally approved by nasa. 5 years later in 2016, scientists launched 0siris rex into space. On december 3, 2018, the capsule arrived at asteroid bennu. 0siris rex collected a sample from bennu in october of 2020.
