The Fairfield City Council The Fairfield City Council met for their regular meeting last night with all members present. Although there were only 3 agenda items to be addressed, discussion on some of the items was lengthy. The council reviewed a proposed ordinance regarding the placement of storage containers on residential property. This issue was briefly discussed at the last meeting with City Attorney Darren Rice instructed to draft a proposed ordinance. Some of the stipulations that are being proposed in the ordinance are: Can't exceed 30% of the property or 320 sq. ft., whichever is less; Must be painted a monochrome color with no visible lettering or signage; Placed to minimize visibility from the street; May only be placed in areas zoned R1, R2, or R3; May be altered but must retain structural integrity; Must be 7' from a structure - Applies to storage containers only. Endangered Missing Person At the request of the Lawrenceville Police Department, the Illinois State Police have activated an Endangered Missing Person Advisory. The Lawrenceville Police Department is requesting the public's assistance in locating Floyd E. Wheeler. Wheeler is a 33-year-old white male, standing 5 foot 10 inches, weighing 150 lbs. Floyd has brown hair and hazel eyes, and was last seen wearing a ball cap, army green hoodie, jeans, and work boots. He was last seen at 1726 12th St, Lawrenceville at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 21st. Mr. Wheeler has a condition that places him in danger. Volunteers for a Progressive Fairfield awarded Smile awards to Reta Mathews and Carol Nale Vaughan. The award was started by the late Mayor Mike Dreith. The group plans to award it annually. "SMILE" stands for SHINE,MOTIVATE,INSPIRE, LEADS, EXCEL. Reta Mathews and Carol Vaughan had been chosen as recipients by Mike before his death. Reta and her late husband Preston could be seen working daily during summer months keeping the landscape at Freedom Park attractive to visitors of the downtown area. Reta has turned over her park duties to Carol, whose commitment to Wasson Park has been ongoing for at least 17 years. Carol notes the Tennant Landscaping donations of plants at both parks and Elaine Gardner, Chuck Reynolds and Angela Vaughan help watering the parks. As part of Make a Difference Day retail merchants and participating stores will have specials, raffles, and more during their Moonlight Madness Sales this evening from 5-8pm, with merchants donating a portion of sales to MADD. Hayden Brown will perform from 5-6:30pm, Nathanial James at 6:30-8pm. Big Boy Catering will be serving up Porkburgers and Drinks with a portion of all sales going toward MADD. Donation boxes will be available downtown, entry free by donation, all proceeds will go to FCHS for Make a Difference Day. Music and Food will be available on 2nd St. Lady Mules Volleyball Senior night tonight takes place tonight, and the Lady Mules want everyone to come out and support Make A Difference Day at the Beach Night. There will be a free photo booth, the Freshman game begins at 5:15 pm, and 100% of the Gate will go to the Make A Difference Day Splash Pad Project.
