Mini pubs bring the beverages to Canterbury backyards

Element 17 is the lead design team and MWF joinery handles the nitty gritty. Rosling spent several years living in Ireland, England and Scotland and saw “a fair few” traditional pubs in his time. His nearly 20 years of experience as an interior designer has seen him work on notable Christchurch projects such as Riverside Market, The Viaduct on Oxford Tce, and Ferg Bar at Fergburger in Queenstown. Each 12-metre-square mini pub is made from the same basic model, but is customisable. The attention to detail is meticulous – from the bar owner’s name on the front, the colour and theme of the pub, and tiny details like customisable bar leaners, taps, display cabinets, wallpaper, flooring and more. Each element is suited to the owner’s preference.

As the COVID-19 pandemic began to grow and the true impact of the virus was realized, the world began to shut down and restrictions were put into place to stop the spread. But as of May 19, most restrictions in Connecticut have been lifted and residents can finally start to return to their normal lives. “I think not only for the Chamber, but also for our entire community coming off of a difficult year it’s just very exciting,” said Beverly Balaz, the Chamber of Commerce’s president. “ It’s very much welcomed.”
