outsider but john mccain poured on the cash and started running these commercials that not only depicted him as a huckster, talking about one infomercial thing that he did but also, look, this guy was a washington insider. he used to vote for a whole bunch of bills that had a whole bunch of earmarks including the very famous bridge to nowhere. bridge to nowhere doesn t get you votes these days. one of the interesting things that this race brought out was that j.d. hayworth s presence at his position made john mccain to the right more. he had to become more conservative on some pivotal issues such as immigration so now people are wondering if his position on that is a moving target and if, in fact, you ll hear senator mccain talk more again about amnesty as he did famously, you know, with ted kennedy before this election but now, he s changed his position so it will be interesting the next few months how he frames his positions on some of these things. what a seamless transition to
center say they have no interest in changing the location. we have the term stand-off. alisyn, you re on. thank you, there s a new development out of bell, california, where city workers were getting paid enormous salaries, you ll recall. well, this morning, we re learning that some council members were paid thousands of dollars for sitting on boards that rarely ever meet. nice job if you can get it. one panel has not met for more than five years but members were paid more than $1,500 per month. the city manager resigned after it was revealed his base salary was about $800,000 a year. the average income in bell? $25,000. well, then he was doing really well. he was, yes. oh, boy. let s take a look at what s going on with hurricane danielle. danielle is back to hurricane strength after being downgraded briefly last night to a tropical storm. winds now back at 85 miles per hour. the hurricane is moving to the north and to the west but it s not expected to hit land. it is expec

all right. let s talk about the primaries, the only undecided primary race is getting closer at this hour with all eyes on alaska and kelly wright is live in d.c. with the winners and losers from all the big races across the country. good morning, kelly. good morning, alisyn. and brian and steve, good morning to you as well. let s go right to it and look at what s happening in alaska. this, of course, the home state of former governor sarah palin. she has been pushing for tea party backed joe miller and we re looking at the results from 84 precincts right now. we were looking at, wow, 51% tonight. 49%. very close right there. and as you can see, so far palin s choice is winning the primary against the incumbent senator lisa murkowski but the race, as they say is still too close to call. and turning now to arizona, the primary there, the win goes to senator john mccain. he s never lost an election in
