That fire happened this morning. You can see the aftermath here from our nbc sky ranger, the backup going into San Francisco is impacting the evening commute. This started around 9 a. M. When a semi truck caught fire on westbound 80 going into the city near Yerba Buena Island lanes were closed as crews continued to clean up the debris. You see the flames there . Jose. This crash happened just after 11 this morning, but after more than five hours, one lane remains closed this afternoon after a red honda crashed into that big rig. The driver of the honda was killed and 100 gallons of fuel also spilled on the roadway. Making this cleanup take a long time. Now lets give you a look at the traffic map. You can see the red there southbound 101 backed up for miles all the way to 280. So if youre heading out of town, its best to take 85 to the south, right now, the chp isnt giving an exact timeline for when all lanes will reopen, but say it could be hours.
