Bartlesville Examiner-Enterprise
The Bartlesville City Council voted Monday to enter an agreement with Bird Rides, the second motorized scooter company to expand to the city.
The one-year contract allows the company to deploy a fleet of 75 dockless electric scooters throughout Bartlesville. According to city documents, Bird approached the City Council in December, weeks after Lime scooters were deployed.
Community Development Director Lisa Beeman has said the scooters help the city meet a transportation goal.
“That is, to provide safe and affordable multi-modal transportation options to all residents,” she said.
Bird scooters will be subject to the same ordinances as Lime, with users prohibited from riding on downtown sidewalks, but able to park them on sidewalks as long as the vehicles do not obstruct foot traffic.
