Igberaese, Mitchell Earn ASUN Recognition

Chelsea Igberaese (left) and Kyle Mitchell (right) For the third consecutive week, Liberty s Chelsea Igberaese has been honored as ASUN Conference Women s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week. Meanwhile, fellow thrower Kyle Mitchell was named ASUN Men s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week, the fifth ASUN weekly honor of his career. A redshirt junior from Dacula, Ga., Igberaese was victorious in the women s weight throw at the Virginia Tech Challenge on Friday. Her winning mark of 65-1.5 outdistanced the runner-up by more than seven and a half feet as Igberaese picked up her third straight weight throw victory. She had four throws measured at more than 64 feet on the day.

4 Flames Garner ASUN Indoor Track Weekly Honors

(L-R): Anna Hostetler, Chelsea Igberaese, Adelyn Ackley & Anthony Bryan Four Liberty Flames earned ASUN Conference indoor track & field weekly honors on Wednesday. These include two repeat winners from last week (Chelsea Igberaese – Women s Field and Anthony Bryan – Men s Freshman) and two women s distance runners who made successful track season debuts at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational (Anna Hostetler – Women s Track and Adelyn Ackley – Women s Freshman). A redshirt junior from Dacula, Ga., Igberaese claimed her second ASUN Women s Field Athlete of the Week honor this season and the third of her career. Igberaese won the women s weight throw at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational with a personal-best and meet-record mark of 65-6.75. She won the event by more than five feet and moved up to No. 34 on this year s NCAA Division I national list.
