Annie andersen is live in the evergreen area of appomattox right now with more. Annie satlive before touring the damage here in appomattox, mcauliffe surveyed the area in his helicopter. Once on houses talking to people. Many of whom lost everything. Mcauliffe also met with phil hysell of the National Weather service who says that this storm had gusts of 120 miles per hour. The Appomattox County High School Football Team is volunteering their time and muscle to get rid of the debris that was left behind after the storm. Focus is still on assessing damage, cleaning up and taking care of those without homes human or animal. Vdot says all roads are passable right now. And from what we heard, times may be tough but the help is just pouring in. Its been amazing. Weve had a wonderful search team out of lynchburg weve had local guys, Emergency Services units and theyve done a trememendous job and we appreciate everything theyve done for the county. Marissa satlive the Lynchburg Fire Department is collecting non perishable food, bottled water, clothing, cleaning supplies things like that at any of its fire stations.
