As longtime Lewes homeowners and concerned citizens for the future of Lewes, we wholeheartedly recommend you vote for Khalil Saliba for Lewes City Council on May 8. Since we’ve known Khalil, we have found him to have exhibited a thoughtful and commonsense approach to do what’s best for all of Lewes.
Khalil is innovative - we love his idea for an entrepreneurial center that will potentially ignite business startups in local industries like hospitality, agriculture, healthcare (Beebe) and marine science (UD). This center could also help existing businesses expand. Perhaps initially, the center could focus on the most immediate concern for local businesses - a worker shortage.

Khalil Saliba is an excellent choice for Lewes City Council on May 8. Khalil, the son of a Beebe physician, grew up in Lewes and has a genuine dedication to the preservation of our town’s unique qualities. As Lewes and surrounding area populations grow, it will be challenging to maintain the special character that is Lewes.
We will be best served as a community to have thoughtful, knowledgeable, and respected leaders such as Khalil at the helm. Khalil currently demonstrates a selfless interest in the well-being of Lewes through his board member roles with the Beebe Medical Foundation and the Greater Lewes Foundation. In the recent past, he has also dedicated his time to serve on the Police Department Review Committee and the Lewes Beach Parking Committee. Khalil has a reputation for listening to all sides of issues and carefully crafting effective, yet reasonable, resolutions for the benefit of all Lewes residents.

I watched the candidates for Lewes City Council on Zoom and read each candidate’s resume and comments. I was disappointed in Robert Morgan’s and Kalil Saliba’s comments on building on flood plains. Most municipalities in other states do not allow building on flood plains for very good reasons. Both Morgan and Saliba commented that they would allow building on flood plains with stipulations.
Carolyn Jones stated unequivocally that she did not believe in permitting building on flood plains, a position I believe is absolutely the correct one. Jones supports the very professional Lewes Police Department and has definite ideas on managing the city, while Morgan and Saliba hedge their bets on the police as well as on other important issues with noncommittal generalities.
