The suspects have been identified as a husband and wife, 28yearold Syed Rizwan Farook and 27yearold tashfeen malik. They were killed in a shootout with police several hours after the rampage. The Bay Area is outpacing the rest of the country in getting shots in arms. In the San Francisco metropolitan area (which includes Oakland and Berkeley), 42% of people are fully vaccinated, compared with 33% of the U.S. population overall, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
That gap is likely to widen even further. While the Bay Area has comparatively fewer residents left to vaccinate, those residents are far more likely to say they want shots than other Americans.
