As the temperature rose Wednesday morning, the line outside the LeGrand Center in Shelby grew.
Men and women wearing their professional best chatted amongst themselves as they clutched folders and resumes, each prepared to claim a new job at the up-and-coming casino in Kings Mountain.
Leading the two-day job fair this week was Chuck Kilroy, a consultant with Delaware North charged with helping fill the first round of jobs for the Catawba Two Kings Casino Resort.
Kilroy said Wednesday he was enthused to see so many people interested in what he called the start of what will become a world class resort.

Meet the 2021 Dover Foundation Scholars
Every year since 1968 the Dover Foundation has given scholarships to local students to help curb the rising cost of a secondary education. This year was no different, with the foundation giving $150,000 worth of scholarships to 11 Cleveland County students.
The foundation hosted its annual scholarship awards event last week at the Le Grand Center to recognize those students.
“The Dover Foundation is pleased to encourage these exceptionally talented students by playing a small part in their academic journeys. Hearing about their plans encourages me and gives me hope for a bright future”, said Kathy Wilson, president of the Dover Foundation.
Prom 2021 just around the corner
For the last few weeks, starting around 3:30 p.m. the doors at Carolina Bridal in Shelby start swinging open. And they do not stop again until it is time to close up for the day.
The bridal shop is one of many businesses experiencing a rush as high school juniors and seniors prepare for proms in May. In a normal year, that rush would have started as a trickle in December and built over the coming months.
Given that proms didn t even seem feasible until earlier this spring, and weren t announced until a few weeks ago, shops are now seeing months worth of work in just a few short weeks.
