Jun. 29 The Catawba Indian Nation will open its 500-slot North Carolina gaming facility this week, tribal leaders said Tuesday.
Players can begin gambling at noon Thursday at the Catawbas Two Kings Casino Resort pre-launch facility off Interstate 85 exit 5 in Kings Mountain, about 35 miles west of Charlotte.
Doors will open after a ceremonial ribbon-cutting scheduled for 9:30 that morning, according to leaders of the Rock Hill, S.C.,-based tribe.
Open 24/7, the single-story facility will feature slot machines by seven manufacturers, a snack bar and a service bar.
As the temperature rose Wednesday morning, the line outside the LeGrand Center in Shelby grew.
Men and women wearing their professional best chatted amongst themselves as they clutched folders and resumes, each prepared to claim a new job at the up-and-coming casino in Kings Mountain.
Leading the two-day job fair this week was Chuck Kilroy, a consultant with Delaware North charged with helping fill the first round of jobs for the Catawba Two Kings Casino Resort.
Kilroy said Wednesday he was enthused to see so many people interested in what he called the start of what will become a world class resort.

KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. (News Release) The Catawba Two Kings Casino Resort is hosting job fairs on May 19 and 20 to fill 200 positions for its “pre-launch” temporary gaming facility opening this summer in Kings Mountain.
The Two Kings team will hold the job fairs from noon to 8 p.m. on May 19 and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 20 at the Cleveland Community College Event Center, 1800 East Marion St., Shelby, N.C.
Available opportunities include finance, marketing and surveillance positions, cage personnel, drop team members, slot techs and attendants, housekeeping personnel, security staff, bartenders, cocktail servers, culinary and guest service representatives, as well as various supervisory positions.
