Premium Content Subscriber only A Coast brickie who stole $600 worth of petrol to fuel his drug addiction and showed police a fake receipt for a stolen jet ski has been fined for the offences. Craig Evans stole $599.35 of fuel from petrol stations during drive offs between September 11, 2020 and February 5, 2021 and received a stolen jet ski between November 30, 2020 and January 22, 2021. Evans performed the fuel drive offs on seven occasions between Nambour and Burpengary. Magistrate Matthew McLaughlin said Evan’s vehicle must have been “thirsty” to rack up the bill in the short time frame. He told the court Evans also tried to trick police by showing them a fake receipt for the jet ski that he said he paid $5000 for.

Premium Content Subscriber only A Coast man who hit his neighbour with a palm frond and spat in his mouth during an “aggressive argument” will walk free from prison next month. Lance Davis Essex was sentenced in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Wednesday to nine months in prison after he assaulted his neighbour on May 8 last year. The court heard Essex had put star pickets on the boundary line of the adjoining properties in Landsborough to stop the victim from driving his car and trailer on his driveway when he parked his car. Defence lawyer Patrick Meehan said the incident occurred after the victim had confronted Essex about the pickets.
