But now, almost a quarter of a century into it, the completion of the project is taking shape like a beacon of hope on the horizon. Sure, plenty of work still remains. But the Rail Trail’s current leg – Phase Six – is a crucial connector, linking the northern and southern sides of the county, while providing a new vision of “the end.” Advertisement Phase Six is so vital that it has been broken down into four distinct sub-phases, for the purposes of this article, A, B, C, and D. Phase Six is one of the Rail Trail’s most urban stretches, a fact that provides its own unique set of challenges.
