UNCF CALIFORNIA OFFICES TO HOST STATEWIDE VIRTUAL GALA SUPPORTING HBCUs AND STUDENTS Fundraising event honors notable corporations, individuals and recording artists who are advancing educational opportunities for young people SAN FRANCISCO, CA, Feb. 26, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) For the first time, UNCF (United Negro College Fund) offices in Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco will co-host a statewide virtual UNCF “A Mind Is…” Gala, on Thursday, March 4, 2021 .  Hosted by actress, and television host, Holly Robinson Peete , the newly virtual fundraising program will be immediately followed by acclaimed recording artists’ performances including Ledisi, Chaka Kahn, Stephanie Mills and a special award presentation by UNCF President and CEO Dr. Michael L. Lomax.

But even though the annual celebration of African American culture, music, dance and leadership will be presented online Friday through Feb. 28, founder and artistic director Dajahn Blevins promises an extravaganza of what he calls “edu-tainment.” “So far I’m blown away with what we’ve got,” Blevins said. “With everything shut down, people think all the work they’re doing has been put on hold. Stick it for a Cure raises $6,000 for ProMedica Cancer Center

Coldwater, MI, USA / WTVB | 1590 AM · 95.5 FM | The Voice of Branch County Feb 15, 2021 5:10 AM COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater gymnastics team hosted their 11th annual Stick it for a Cure Cardinal gymnastics Invitational on Saturday which raised funds for the Cancer Center at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital. Five different schools from around the state participated including Escanaba, Grand Ledge, Jackson, Parma Western, and Coldwater.  Due to the covid-19 protocols, there were some changes to the way the event was conducted. The gymnasts decided to host an online auction, sell raffle tickets, and offer an online “text to donate” option as a way to solicit donations for the local Cancer Center. The annual tradition of the basket auction carried through online and the gymnasts raised nearly $1,000 from their baskets. Coldwater, MI, USA / WTVB | 1590 AM · 95.5 FM | The Voice of Branch County Feb 11, 2021 4:49 AM COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater lady Cardinal gymnastics team had their home opener Wednesday night in a double dual meet against Monroe High School and Ann Arbor Skyline High School. Coldwater won both matchups with a team Regional qualifying score of 132.925.  Monroe was second with over 124 points, followed by Ann Arbor Skyline at 26.425. The Cardinal home opener each year is dedicated as the Jillian Crist Memorial meet.  Even though COVID-19 protocols made things a bit different this year, the gymnasts still collected more than two dozen bottles of ketchup to donate to the food pantry in her honor.   Announcer Mark Crist and his wife Louise were on hand to award two gymnasts the Miss Con”Jilly”lity award as a thank you to the team for keeping Jillian’s memory alive. This year Karley Knisely and Abby Travelbee were both recognized.
