the gentleman from ohio, jim jordan. our goal is simple to bring down the cost of insurance for working families and middle class families across the country. in an effort to do that, we think you have to get rid of obamacare completely. tomorrow i will introduce the bill that every single republican voted on just 15 months ago, the bill that actually repeals obamacare. our plan has always been repeal in one piece of legislation and replace in another. that replacement we talked about a few weeks ago is the bill sponsored by dr. paul in the senate and mark sanford in the house. there is three plans out there. collins plan, if you like obamacare you can keep obamacare. there was the leadership plan that was brought forward which i believe when you look through it is obamacare in a different form. then there is our plan, the one i think is consistent with what we told the voters we were going do. repeal obamacare, replace it with a market centered patient
opportunity to repeal obamacare. conservative groups heritage action lasted the proposal in late today members of the house freedom caucus and kentucky senator rand paul called for voting on the street obamacare repeal. we are divided. we have to admit we are divided on replacement. we are united on repeal but divided on replacement. leadership plan brought forward which i believe is obamacare in a different form. earlier, energy and commerce chairman trying to defend we met that task of the president and secretary price who believe this is repeal and reform. nancy pelosi is demanding to know the price tag, writing to speaker paul ryan the american people and members of a right to know the full impact of the legislation before any voting.
there s so many plans, how are you going to come to a decision on on what is the most viable, what are you arguing in terms of the plan? refundable tax credits versus not. the leadership plan what we know about it at this point includes refundable tax credits. the plan for instance with senator paul does not. if you look at the earned income tax credit, there are about 25 million people that basically get a check. you did this with health care, we are looking at maybe 40 and 50 million people getting a check, given what we have seen with the earned income tax credit, the amount of fraud, waste and abuse, if you want to call it that that exists with that program, i think it s problematic in this case that people object. maria: people are saying, that s obamacare like, that s the same thing that obamacare has
the things he described are just not accurate. and like i said, when committees write their bills and put their bills out there to mark up, everybody will see what they have done. spirit republican kentucky senator rand paul joined me now albert senator, good evening. thank you. he said this is just a start and it s up to the committee, and you are not part of that committee. i think it s actually more about substance than anything else. my concern is a little bit about transparency but a lot about substance. i m annoyed that we are getting the bill from politico and not from the leadership of either the house or the senate. the fact that the bill is sort of somehow being leaked to the media who are then leaking it back to interesting interesteds is not how it should be done. but my substantive difference is what the house leadership plan is i think it is obamacare light, and i didn t sign on to vote for a new government program. i will tell you three things i object to. number o
