Washington D.C., Jun 24, 2022 / 17:21 pm (CNA).
Hundreds of people — both pro-life advocates and abortion supporters — descended upon the Supreme Court building in Washington, D.C., Friday following the court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, which legalized abortion nationwide in 1973.
The decision leaves abortion up to the states.
While emotions ran high and some pro-abortion chants were obscene, the demonstrations outside the court on Friday afternoon appeared orderly. Authorities were preparing for the possibility of unrest Friday night.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Monsignor John Paddack, a former top administrator at two Catholic high schools on Staten Island, has been named in a pair of new sex-abuse lawsuits filed this week, bringing the number of accusers up to at least a dozen.
In an interview with the Advance/SILive.com, attorneys from Jeff Anderson & Associates slammed Cardinal Dolan, the archbishop of New York, for his handling of sex-abuse allegations against Monsignor Paddack, who previously served as principal of Monsignor Farrell High School in Oakwood and as a dean at St. Joseph by-the-Sea High School in Huguenot.
discussion guide, if you will, for the discussions that will happen over the next couple of days. and one of those ideas is an idea put forth by the u.s. bishops and cardinal daniel dinardo outlining what his thoughts are. this idea of bishops policing bishops seems almost hollow at this point in time. i don t think it s hollow particularly if it s blended with a review board or some of the layity who take their place. reporter: what the cardinal would like to see is a lay review board for bishops which is what happens now. what is not in this paper which has some survivors very upset, there is no language about zero toleran tolerance. that is basically one strike and you re out when it comes to the priesthood. the other thing that s in here is publicly naming abusive priests.
