Kasoa ritual killing: One of the Suspects declared minor by court Listen to article One of the teens involved in the alleged ritual killing of 11-year-old Ishmael Mensah at Lamptey Mills, a suburb of Bortianor-Ngleshie-Amanfro within the Ga South Municipality, has been declared as a minor. Felix Nyarko s age of 15 was determined at a hearing on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at the Ofaakor Circuit Court. The case docket has been forwarded to the Attorney General’s Department for advice while the case has been adjourned to May 19, 2021. The lawyer for the accused persons, Samuel Attuah, said they will take the next line of action based on the Attorney General’s advice.

ECG releases 8-days dumsor timetable for Accra

705 The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has released the power outages timetable for Greater Accra for the month of May 2021, due to ongoing construction works in the power sector especially at the Pokuase Bulk Supply Point. According to the ECG, as part of projects to improve power supply reliability and system voltages, the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) in collaboration with the ECG are undertaking interruptions in the power supply to facilitate the work of contractors at various stages and times. This, according to the ECG requires a complete shutdown of the 330kv line thereby affecting power supply reliability to the Mallam Bulk Supply Point (BSP).

705 Since news broke about the killing of 10-year-old Ishmael Mensah Abdallah by his friends for ritual purposes last Saturday, Ghanaians are yet to come to terms with the rather sad incident. Class Four pupil, Ishmael, was allegedly killed on Holy Saturday by two teenagers, Nicholas Kini, 18, and Felix Nyarko, 16, at Coca Cola, close to Lamptey Mills, in the Ga South Municipality near Kasoa in the Central Region. The incident has been difficult for many people to comprehend, considering the ages of the alleged perpetrators. As grotesque as the incident is, the Daily Graphic believes that it is time parents sat up and lived up to their responsibility of providing the requisite parental guidance for their children.
