Stand up paddleboarding banned on Little Spokane River, St George s put-in opens Friday

May 27—Stand up paddelboarding is no longer allowed on the Little Spokane River between the St. George's put-in and the Highway 291 non-motorized takeout. Per Washington code swimming and floating the river in inner tubes is not allowed in the Little Spokane River Natural Area. An additional reason for the change is "a signifiant increase of use on the river as well as a significant increase .

Paddleboarding no longer allowed at St George s Put-in

OLYMPIA, Wash.– Paddle boarding will not be allowed at the reopening of the St. George’s Put-in on the Little Spokane River. Along with the regular prohibitions of swimming, inner-tubing and other flotation devices similar flotation devices, the reopening of the put-in by Washington State Parks on May 28 will not be allowing stand up paddle boards (SUPs) in the Little Spokane River Area.  Studies have shown that more people are likely to fall into the river using SUPs than using canoes, rowboats, kayaks and rafts. Paddleboarders are allowed at these locations: Please Flats (on the Spokane River) Nine Mile Recreation Area (Lake Spokane)
