The West Lafayette Little League celebrated it s 50th season on May 2. During the opening festivities, president Rob Kochon was honored for dedication to little league in West Lafayette.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - On May 2, Little League Baseball started it s 50th season in West Lafayette. For more than half those seasons, Rob Kochon was helping to make sure they happened.
Former West Lafayette Little League President John Jonas explains how Kochon strives to advance the league. But his vision was to really make this a first class complex all together, Jonas said.

LUVERNE James “Red” Theodore Spellum, formerly of Lafayette, age 72, passed away Monday, February 22nd, in Luverne, MN.
Jim was born to James & Alice (Schwartz) Spellum and baptized in Glencoe, MN, then later confirmed in Lester Prairie, MN at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in 1963. He was raised by his mother, and lived with his grandparents, Frederick and Augusta Schwartz in Lester Prairie, MN. He graduated from Winthrop Community High School in 1968, then served in the US Navy aboard the USS Tappahannock as a gunner pilot in Vietnam participating in 4 war campaigns. When he retired from the Navy, he obtained his private pilots license and enjoyed taking friends to Canada for walleye fishing. Jim loved to fish, hunt, play city league baseball for the Lafayette Hawks, and umpiring for the Lafayette Little League, but what he loved the most were his family, friends and his faith. He loved spoiling his nieces, nephews and godchildren which he was to 6 babies. Jim b

LAFAYETTE, La. â The Lafayette Consolidated Government held its weekly press conference on Tuesday to discuss the aftermath of last week s winter weather, the upcoming city-parish council meeting and a new little league program.
LCG Chief Communications Officer Jamie Angelle thanked the Lafayette Utilities System and its staff for their work to deal with issues during last week s historic winter weather that left many without power or water.
Angelle said LUS had a rapid mobilization and response to the Midcontinent Independent System Operatorâs request for power conservation.
