Feb 25, 2021 LUVERNE James “Red” Theodore Spellum, formerly of Lafayette, age 72, passed away Monday, February 22nd, in Luverne, MN. Jim was born to James & Alice (Schwartz) Spellum and baptized in Glencoe, MN, then later confirmed in Lester Prairie, MN at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in 1963. He was raised by his mother, and lived with his grandparents, Frederick and Augusta Schwartz in Lester Prairie, MN. He graduated from Winthrop Community High School in 1968, then served in the US Navy aboard the USS Tappahannock as a gunner pilot in Vietnam participating in 4 war campaigns. When he retired from the Navy, he obtained his private pilots license and enjoyed taking friends to Canada for walleye fishing. Jim loved to fish, hunt, play city league baseball for the Lafayette Hawks, and umpiring for the Lafayette Little League, but what he loved the most were his family, friends and his faith. He loved spoiling his nieces, nephews and godchildren which he was to 6 babies. Jim b
