DEHRADUN: A 70-year-old seer attending the Maha Kumbh died of Covid-19 at a Covid care centre in Haridwar after he was allegedly turned away by both AIIMS Rishikesh and Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) for lack of ICU beds.
Talking to TOI, additional chief medical officer (ACMO) of Haridwar Dr HD Shakya said that the seer was initially admitted at a Covid Care Centre set up in the Bairagai akhada camp. He was then referred to Baba Barfani Covid Care Centre. After his condition turned critical, he had to be referred to a specialised centre.

Those who are planning to visit the Kumbh will be put into home quarantine on arrival
NEW DELHI: Delhi government has made it mandatory for residents of Delhi who have visited Kumbh 2021 in Haridwar to go into home quarantine for 14 days. Those who are planning to visit the Kumbh will be put into home quarantine on arrival. In an order issued on Saturday, the government asked all such people to upload their details like name, age, address on a special link created on delhi.gov.in. Legal action will be taken against those violating the order.

Delhi, Odisha and Madhya Pradesh on Saturday made it mandatory for devotees returning from the Kumbh Mela in Uttarakhand’s Haridwar city to quarantine themselves amid a massive surge in coronavirus cases in the country.
In Delhi, the devotees will have to quarantine themselves at home for 14 days and upload their details on the government website,
The Indian Express reported. Legal action will be taken against those who flout the norms.
