COLOMBO (News 1st); The Director General of Health Services confirmed nineteen deaths caused by Covid-19 virus infection on Friday (07). The total number of deaths due to Covid-19 infection in Sri Lanka is 764.
1. The deceased is a 63 year old female resident in Sunandapura. She was diagnosed as infected with Covid 19 virus while undergoing treatments in Teaching Hospital Kuliyapitiya and transferred to Iranawila Covid Treatment Centre. She died on 26.04.2021 and the cause of death is mentioned as Myocardial infarction with COVID 19 infection.

According to the WHO, cancer is the second leading cause of death. But, did you know that you can prevent a certain cancer by just a vaccine? Most types of cervical cancers can be prevented by the HPV vaccine. Though it is mostly 100% preventable, cervical cancer is the third most common cancer in Sri Lanka. WHO states that in 2018, an estimated 570 000 women were diagnosed with the disease globally while 311 000 women died of it.
