Our Correspondent Kohima, Sep. 14 (EMN): Kohima district has reported a total of 61 road accidents this year, and most of the cases were related to drunken driving, according to the Kohima Police. Presenting a report on road accidents registered in Kohima district this year (January to August 2022), Additional Superintendent of Police (Traffic and Protocol) DEF, Kohima, K Soriso, said a total 61 road accidents, including three fatalities (deaths) and 28 injuries were reported during the eight months. (Refer table) He was speaking at an awareness programme on road safety held at High School colony Panchayat hall on Wednesday. Our CorrespondentKohima, Sep. 13 (EMN): In what would help the daily commuters along the stretch from New Reserve to New Secretariat, the Kohima Police has proposed a city bus services. ‘We are proposing to start the city bus service from New Reserve to New Secretariat and accordingly, we have identified the bus stops. Currently, the city buses run from Lerie to High School Junction and we are proposing an extension,’ the deputy superintendent of police (Traffic), Manom Wallim, informed Eastern Mirror on Tuesday. A team of Kohima police led by the DSP were seen putting up bus stop signage on one of the identified areas near Razhu Point on Tuesday. Our Correspondent Kohima, Aug. 24 (EMN): A body was found lying in front of the cobbler’s shop at Old Tata parking (Keziekie) in Kohima on Wednesday, according to Kohima Police. On receiving information, the police rushed to the spot at around 6 am and identified the deceased and family members. Since the family members refused to conduct post-mortem examination, the cause of death could not be ascertained, the additional superintendent of police and PRO of Kohima Police, Vitoshe Sumi told Eastern Mirror. However, no angle of foul play was found, he added. He added that an unnatural death case was registered at North Police Station, Kohima, and further investigations are on. The body was later handed over to the families after observing legal formalities. The person was identified as 22-year-old, Nchumbemo Odyuo, from Wokha district and resident of Naga Bazaar colony, Kohima, PRO further informed.
EM Bureau Kohima/Dimapur, Aug. 11 (EMN): Three dead bodies were found at separate locations in the state, the police said. One person was found dead in a drain on Thursday morning below Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK). Until afternoon, the identity of the person was not established and was only identified later in the evening by the family members at the police station. The Additional SP and PRO, Kohima Police, Vitoshe K Sumi, speaking to Eastern Mirror informed that the wife and children came for identification in the evening, and he was identified as Pardeshi Lal (45). The deceased hailed from Bishnupur (Helta), Gumla district in Jharkhand, presently residing in Zubza GREEF camp in Kohima. The police officer informed that the exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained as the result of the post-mortem is awaited. The first edition of the Award was conferred to Tsiese Basa Youth Organisation and UBC Isilong Hau, DEF Kohima in a function held at the Conference Hall of SP office Kohima. Addressing the programme, Kevithito Sophie, Senior Superintendent of Police, Kohima, said there were many heroes who were involved in solving day-to-day crimes, social problems and even if they were noticed, not acknowledged.
