Kohima police nab 2, recover contraband - Eastern Mirror

Dimapur, July 18 (EMN): Acting on specific information, Nagaland Police personnel of Narcotic Cell PHQ, intercepted a Guwahati-bound vehicle B/R No. RJ19CF-9864 (Maruti Swift) at NH-29, Kohima, and recovered suspected contraband on Monday around 2pm. SP (Crime) and PRO, PHQ, in a press release informed that a thorough search of the vehicle, which was coming from Imphal, led to recovery of 22 cello taped polythene packets containing suspected opium weighing approximately 21 Kg and 142 grams. The contraband were concealed inside a manually built-in chamber in the running board through the mud-guard of the vehicle. In this connection, police arrested an NCO of the Indian Army Ordinance Corp, Narengi Cantonment, Guwahati, namely Havildar Rakesh Vishnoi (29 years), son of Mangilal, a resident of Jhalamaliya village, Rajasthan, who was driving the vehicle along with another occupant of the vehicle namely Suresh Choudhary (23 years), son of Bhura Ram, of Potaliya Chopra Pali vilage, Rajasthan

Kohima Police issues traffic regulations for Presidential poll

Dimapur, July 16 (EMN): In view of the presidential election 2022 to be held on July 18 at the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Secretariat, Kohima Police has issued traffic regulations as part of the security arrangement. In a press release, PRO of Kohima Police stated that vehicles only with the letter ‘Z’ (white letter with red background for legislators) and ‘Y’ (white letter with green background for concerned departments and media) would be allowed entry to the Assembly Secretariat. It informed that those vehicles only having car pass would be permitted to proceed towards Assembly Secretariat from Assembly Gate. It added that no escort vehicle/ visitors vehicle would be allowed from that point. Tuensang-Dimapur bus meets with accident; scores injured

Our Reporter Dimapur, June 5 (EMN): A bus from Tuensang bound for Dimapur district turned turtle on Sunday morning between Tsiesema and Peducha injuring several passengers onboard. Additional Superintendent of Police (Addl. SP), Kohima, and PRO, Vitoshe Sumi told Eastern Mirror that as per the account of the passengers, the accident occurred around 7:40 am, and was likely due to overspeeding or rash driving, adding that the bus was overloaded.   The driver was not under the influence of alcohol, it was informed. The exact head count of the passengers could not be ascertained from the site of the accident as some of the passengers were taken by their relatives, the PRO said. However, around 27 passengers were admitted to Naga Hospital Authority Kohima and Kohimas Hospital. Some of the passengers received grievous injuries but were said to be out of danger, he updated.
