The Irrawaddy, a civilian in strife-torn Mynamar has filed a case against the Myanmar Police Force for wrongfully detaining him for about six months.
The case has been filed by Ko Aung Gyi, who was arrested by the police last year on the charge of raping a toddler at a pre-school in Naypyitaw where he was employed as a driver. The case had created a sensation across Myanmar. Dubbing the victim as âVictoriaâ on social media and on banners, many took to the streets to demand justice.

YANGON Ko Aung Gyi, who was falsely accused of raping a toddler at a private school in Naypyitaw last year, has sued the Myanmar Police Force for wrongfully detaining him for more than six months.
It is the first time in nearly six decades that the police have been brought before a court for causing damage to a citizen, according to lawyers and legal experts.
