Clare pupils join Ireland s Global Goal Getters

The work of pupils from Kilshanny National School and Ballina Primary School, Ballina via Killaloe has been chosen to feature in the latest edition Global Goal Getters. This online magazine showcases projects from primary school pupils taking part in this year’s Our World Irish Aid Awards, the Department of Foreign Affairs’ flagship global citizenship award scheme. Ballina Primary School also featured in the first edition of the magazine. Since January, primary school pupils across Ireland have been learning in the classroom and at home about the importance of working with others to address global challenges and build a more equal, peaceful, and sustainable world.

This week, Clare FM highlighted the cases of 99-year-old Joe Kennealy from Kilshanny and 100-year-old Margaret Morgan from Kilmurry McMahon who are both among the estimated 1,000 housebound people who are still waiting for their vaccines. They also don’t even have a date for when the jabs will be administered, as part of the rollout by the National Ambulance Service.

Family Of 99-Year-Old Clare Man Still Awaiting Vaccine Call For Clarity 20th April 2021 The family of a 99-year-old Clare man who hasn’t yet received his covid-19 vaccine fear he may have been forgotten about. Joe Kenneally from Kilshanny, who turns 100 in just three months time, is housebound and has yet to receive his first dose or a confirmation of an appointment to receive a the jab. The National Ambulance Service has been tasked with delivering and administering the innoculation to those who are housebound and the HSE has this week said that there are over 1,000 such patients yet to be vaccinated.
