The Killeen Independent School District dispelled social media rumors Wednesday that a student was shocked with a stun gun at Ellison High School earlier this week.
This Saturday, Harker Heights High senior Antonio Fox is hosting an event aimed at bringing police and members of the community together to break the ice.
According to his contract, Craft is eligible to receive a raise this school year.
âThe superintendent shall receive the same percentage salary increase as granted to the category of professional employees (teachers and certified administrators) in 2021,â the contract states.
After the successful 2018 $426 million bond election, in 2019, Craft received a $42,000 raise when his contract was renewed.
Craft is currently one of the highest paid superintendents in the state of Texas.

Killeen ISD invests $14.8 million in employees by approving 3.5% pay increase for all employees

KILLEEN, TX â The Killeen ISD Board of Trustees voted to unanimously approve a compensation package.
The package will provide equity adjustments between 8-13% for some hourly employees and an additional 3.5% general pay increase for all employees beginning July 1, 2021.
Killeen ISD s Superintendent, Dr. John Craft, presented the compensation package at Tuesday nightâs Board meeting.
The salary for a first-year teacher with Killeen ISD will be $52,000 for the 2021-2022 school year.
In addition to the 3.5% general pay increase, some hourly non-exempt staff will receive pay rate equity adjustments to align with market values according to a Texas Association of School Board (TASB)-HR department study.
A Baylor School of Law professor visited the Killeen Independent School District school board last week to provide an update on the districtâs newly founded Diversity and Inclusion Committeeâs plans for the future.
KISD Superintendent John Craft told the board at its April 27 meeting that he is particularly excited about the committeeâs work.
âWe will continue to become even more diverse as we grow, but there is always room for improvement,â Craft said.
The new committee was created in September of 2020. In December, the board approved the committeeâs request to bring on Baylor School of Law professor Connie Nichols to provide diversity and inclusion training. Last month, the committee began training with Nichols.
