India News: MUNICH: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held a meeting with Canadian counterpart Melanie Joly on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conferenc.
The unsealing of the indictment follows recent sharing of information by the US on a nexus between organised criminals, gun runners and terrorists. India has since formed a high-level inquiry committee to address the security concerns highlighted by the US government. The Ministry of External Affairs said that India takes such inputs seriously since they impinge on national security interests as well, and relevant departments were already examining the issue.
The Indian High Commissioner in Canada, Sanjay Kumar Verma, stated that India seeks "specific and relevant" evidence in the case of the killing of designated terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar to assist Canada in concluding the investigation. Despite differences, Verma urged a focus on convergence in India-Canada relations, emphasizing the importance of business ties.
