MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) April is National Volunteer Month, a time to recognize the important work local nonprofit organizations do.
Mission 22 aims to help veterans recover from mental illness. The nonprofit has been serving the military community since 2013.
Last winter, when a video of local volunteer and ambassador Loren Files holding a sign on the corner of a busy intersection went viral on social media, Mission 22 caught the attention of millions around the world. (Source: KEYC News Now)

MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) â This week marks National Library Week, and to celebrate, weâll be highlighting local libraries in our community each day.
The Blue Earth County Library has been serving folks of southern Minnesota since the 1890s.
With its mission to provide access to resources, services, activities and information of local interest that encourage life-long learning in a cost-effective manner, the library has made an impact on Mankato locals over the years.

MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) Boy Scouts are making changes to their annual programming to offset the impact the pandemic had on their fall fundraising.
The Twin Valley Council, Boy Scouts of America says their annual popcorn fundraiser saw a drastic decrease in sales last year.
In an effort to raise more support for their troops, local Boy Scouts are selling flowers and Bunny’s Boxes, which contain items from area businesses around Mankato.

MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) With COVID-19 hindering their ability to sell cookies door-to-door, local Girl Scouts are getting creative to keep their fundraising going strong.
The Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valley say they are offering various options to cater to each scout’s comfort level at this time. While you can still catch pop-up cookie sales at local businesses, some girls are opting for a new, completely virtual option called Smart Cookies.
