The Virginia Department of Health, Office of Emergency Medical Services informed Pittsylvania County that the Kentuck Fire Department’s Emergency Medical Services license has expired and was not renewed by the
Pittsylvania County’s volunteer fire and rescue departments have already earmarked more than half of the money they’re getting through COVID recovery efforts.
Blairs Fire and Rescue responded to a report of the structure fire at 600 North Pointe Lane Saturday.
First unit arrived to find heavy fire and smoke showing from the third floor apartments. An attack was made into the apartments and the fire was brought under control in approximately one hour.
There was extensive fire and water damage to several apartments.
The Red Cross was called in to assist families with relocation. Blairs EMS treated two patients for smoke inhalation and transported one to SOVAH of Danville in stable condition.Â
Blairs responded with two engines, a command vehicle and two ambulances.
Forecasts from the National Weather Service still show significant ice accumulations. Most of Pittsylvania County is projected to see somewhere between half and three-quarters of an inch of accumulated ice.
