The operator of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Plant has begun dismantling the cover of a reactor building. The work is in preparation to remove nuclear fuel from a spent fuel storage pool in 2017. But fears remain that radioactive materials might spread to outside the facility during the process. Tokyo electric Power Company has started work at the number one reactor building. The cover was put on in 2011. They will Spray Chemicals through holes drilled into the cover to try to prevent from radioactive dust from scattering. The operator hopes to begin fullscale dismantling of the cover next march and complete the task in about a year. It expects to start clearing the debris in 2016. Some fear that rice paddies were contaminated last year. The operator says it will monitor the possible spread of radioactive materials and disclose the data on its website. T
