Accidental death
LOCK HAVEN A 57-year-old Lock Haven man sustained fatal injuries after falling down the embankment on the levee trail in Castanea Township, state police at Lamar said.
Robert W. Benfield Sr. succumbed to head injuries at the scene on April 8 at 4:54 p.m., police said.
The death was ruled accidental.
Harassment
LOCK HAVEN Melody McCoy Witherite, 42, of Mill Hall, was sent a summons after being charge with harassment by Woodward Township Police.
Witherite allegedly sent another person 47 unwanted text messages, many of which contained lewd an obscene language, over a five-day period from April 7 to 9, police said.
The summons was filed at District Judge Keith Kibler’s office.

Jamie Jackson
LOCK HAVEN The Commonwealth will seek the death penalty if Jamie Lynne Jackson, 36, is convicted of murdering her 9-year-old nephew in November.
District Attorney David Strouse has filed formal notice that he intends to seek the death penalty against Jackson for the murder of Anson Landon Mitchell Stover if she is found guilty.
Strouse filed a Notice of Aggravating Circumstances in the case of Commonwealth v. Jamie Lynne Jackson prior to her scheduled formal arraignment on Monday, Feb. 22. In the court filing, the DA alleges three aggravating circumstances that he intends to submit to the jury at the eventual time of sentencing in the case with regard to the charge of Criminal Homicide, should Jackson be convicted.
