UK made: Pimoroni switches to larger Sheffield base
Electronics manufacturer Pimoroni has doubled its production, research and development and warehousing space by relocation within Sheffield.
The company, founded in 2012, supplies 2,500 educational, industrial and hobbyist products through over 100 distributors worldwide.
It has £6m turnover and 40 staff, and has brought all its operations under one roof with a 10-year lease in a 26,000ft
2 HQ on Parkway Drive.
“We had been looking for a big enough building in Sheffield city centre and bring our whole manufacturing, packing and shipping crew under one roof. We couldn’t have asked for a better place,” said Pimoroni creative director Paul Beech, who founded the company with Jon Williamson. “Not only does it allow us to consolidate into one Sheffield site, the modern building gives us the confidence to extend our production lines to meet the increased demand, and have a springboard to expand from.”

Knife-wielding driver
A bicyclist told police that he was riding on Spring Road when a man honked at him and displayed a knife about 4 p.m. Thursday. The driver said he honked his horn at the bicyclist, who he said was weaving in the roadway. His home brewed alcohol was to blame.
When intercepted behind the wheel of his mobile home, the driver Thomas McCallion tested to an alcohol reading of 0.150, Ipswich Magistrates Court heard.
His licence was also court disqualified.
Thomas Damien McCallion, 44, from Redbank Plains, (pictured) pleaded guilty to driving UIL (0.150) in Goodna on November 6; driving when disqualified by court order; and driving an unregistered and uninsured motor vehicle.
Police prosecutor Bronson Ballard said McCallion was driving a Ford motorhome when police saw it do a U-turn and mount the concrete gutter just after 1pm.
Officers spoke to him and could smell alcohol on his breath.
