Riot Fest, which has been at Douglass Park since 2015, runs from Sept. 15-17 and expects to draw roughly 50,000 people to the park daily. Nearby residents and workers complained about traffic, noise and limited open spaces.
After months of pushback from community members concerned about megafestivals taking over a neighborhood park, the Chicago Park District is implementing changes to the permitting process.
The park district should have a sit-down with the community about the frequency and size of music events and reach an arrangement that benefits residents.
