A first step being the key to all of this right here, the San Francisco board of supervisors voted unanimously to apologize to black residents of the city of San Francisco for decades of discriminatory policies and systemic discrimination that amount to antiblack racism, an important first step with a complicated and long road ahead. We have much more work to do, but this apology most certainly is an important step, and one of the over 100 recommendations made by the African American reparations and advisory committee. The resolution is adopted unanimous. With that move, San Francisco joins a short list of major u. S. Cities and states that have taken the first steps to repair its black residents is a long overdue apology. We know that an apology without action rings hollow.
