The public hearings on Monday's Willmar City Council agenda are regarding special assessments for unpaid snow and ice removal and unpaid weed and grass mowing. The tabled action items the council is expected to consider are the rezoning and the creation of a tax increment financing district for the Unique Opportunities apartment complex project on Lakeland Drive Northeast.
Following a months-long application process and an intense day of interviews Tuesday, Kelsey Baker was named the Kandiyohi County Board's choice for the county's next administrator. For the past five years, Baker has served as the administrator for Swift County, and it was that experience that put Baker above the other two finalists.
The Kandiyohi County Board interviewed the three finalists Tuesday for the county administrator position. In a unanimous vote they will offer the position to Kelsey Baker, the current county administrator of Swift County. Current Kandiyohi County administrator Larry Kleindl is set to retire in February.
The Kandiyohi County Board of Commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19, in the board chambers of the Kandiyohi County Health and Human Services building in Willmar. The agenda includes requesting approval to sell the county's recycling center and a presentation on the Capital Highway Investment Plan from the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Two hearings are related to the sale of city-owned property, two are related to the potential Unique Opportunities apartment complex, and the last is regarding the proposed THC ordinance in the city of Willmar.
